Life Journal Improved Timeline Layout, performance and bug fixes

Features Functionality Life Journal Performance UI Update Windows

New Features

Life Journal - Improved Timeline view

Improved Timeline View: While working on the mobile version of the application, I discovered a mechanism via which the timeline view can be more dynamic in its presentation. I have integrated that capability in the Life Journal desktop app. Now, the Title, Short Description and Tag list all align to the left edge of the Timeline if there is no image and correctly next to the image if there is one.

Enhancements / Other Improvements

  • Minor improvements to the performance of loading entries.
  • Autosave of entries now triggers every 30 seconds (instead of every 10). Entries also get auto saved when you change entries in the timeline or when you close the app.

Bug Fixes

  • We had an issue wherein the date edit for entries was not working (changing the month did not render the correct days of the month in the calendar when in dropdown mode). This was a toolchain issue and it has now been resolved.

About the Update

Existing customers of Life Journal (purchased from the store) will be prompted to download and install the latest version of Life Journal the next time you run Life Journal (in-place upgrade). Users that purchased the app from the Microsoft App Store will get updates via the store as usual.
Important Note: This auto update capability requires that you have v1.5.0.0 or later of Life Journal installed. If you do not have this version, please contact us and we will send you a link to the most current installer.

We also deploy the app at the same time to the Windows 10 App Store. Please note however, that it can take between 2-5 business days for the application update to show up on the Windows store since it has to undergo a stringent certification and deployment process (managed by Microsoft).
